For Ukrainian entrepreneurs

Doing business in the Netherlands, explained in your own language

Nonna, founder of Royal Support, was born in Odesa and has lived in the Netherlands for 34 years. She understands both the Ukrainian and the Dutch side of your situation, and explains everything in Ukrainian or Russian.

Starting a business under temporary protection

That is allowed if you are registered in the BRP and have a BSN, DigiD and an address. We help with your KVK registration, legal form and first returns.

The TWV rule for your clients

If you work self-employed, your client must apply to UWV for a work permit (TWV). In hospitality, construction, personal services and agriculture it is usually refused.

Employment or hiring staff

Employees with temporary protection do not need a TWV. The employer notifies UWV in advance; two working days later you can start.

Income from Ukraine and your tax return

Do you also have income or a FOP in Ukraine? Sometimes it has to be included in your Dutch return. We look at your situation together so you do not pay twice.

Letters and authorities

A letter from the tax authority, KVK or UWV? Send a photo and we explain in Ukrainian what it says and what to do.

Temporary protection extended

The EU has extended temporary protection for people from Ukraine until 4 March 2028 inclusive, so you can keep building your business.

Does your client need a TWV?

Can I work self-employed for any client?
Only if your client has a TWV. Without a TWV your client risks a fine. In some sectors the TWV is usually refused.
Can I discuss my bookkeeping in Ukrainian?
Yes. All contact can be in Ukrainian or Russian. The returns themselves are in Dutch, but we explain everything.
